01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

De Sawah Permatang Tiga Pajak Song is a charming Malaysian restaurant nestled along Jalan Permatang Baru in Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang, where traditional flavors meet a breathtaking natural setting. This eatery perfectly captures the essence of Malaysian comfort food, focusing on a variety of beloved local dishes that keep diners coming back.

As you step into De Sawah, you're greeted not only by the inviting aromas of wok-fried specialties but also by an expansive view of lush, open paddy fields that imbue the entire dining experience with a sense of tranquility and connection to nature. The ambiance here is truly something special — a calming haven for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a meal that feels both rustic and nourishing.

The menu boasts an impressive lineup of Malaysian favorites, shining a spotlight on classic fried dishes (“goreng-goreng”) that burst with flavor and a satisfying crispness. Standout choices include the behun goreng telur mata, where delicate rice vermicelli is perfectly stir-fried with a sunny-side-up egg, offering a delightful medley of textures and tastes. Their laksa has attracted much praise, noted for its slightly lighter, more broth-like consistency without sacrificing depth or authentic spiciness.

Other must-try dishes featured by enthusiastic patrons are the mee rebus, delivering a nostalgic, rich gravy that wraps each noodle strand in tender comfort, and traditional ais kacang, a refreshing and colorful shaved ice dessert, ideal for the tropical climate. Food here isn't merely nourishment—it's an invitation to engage all your senses and heal the soul, especially on serene evenings with family.

Long-time visitor Nur Ainina Ibrahim sums it up best: “Best makan (food) tepi sawah (beside the paddy), perfect for a healing afternoon with family.” Meanwhile, Aina Dzulnain paints a vivid picture of the setting, marveling at the “breezy paddy oxygen” that makes every bite of their spicy belacan-infused dishes feel like a rewarding treat. Guests consistently highlight the peaceful atmosphere as much as the food — Rahmatt Taufik reflects on a serene Sunday lunch here, praising the “view of paddy field the most… so calming.”

Whether you are seeking a nostalgic taste of Malaysia’s culinary heritage or a quiet spot to recharge amidst nature’s beauty, De Sawah Permatang Tiga Pajak Song invites you to breathe deeply, savor rich flavors, and relax with loved ones. It is more than a meal; it’s an experience that reconnects you to the heart of Pulau Pinang.

Nasi Goreng USA sebenar (udang sotong ayam) dijual di sini. Rasa ok. Untuk sos black pepper (Chicken Chop/Lamb Chop) kena ada penambahbaikan sikit sebab tak rasa black pepper. Rata-rata ok. Boleh makan dan berbaloi.
